KOUKEN FRP Pump for Seawater
Japan is an island. We have sea all around us.
However, there is only few places left where we can draw the seawater from the
sea for the aquariums. Especially in the urban area, the amount of seawater
you can transport from sea by vehicle or ship is limiter. Therefore,
many of the aquariums have to circulate the valuable seawater within the facility.
During this circulation, seawater's constituent changes to peculiar way.
It's constituent include highly corrosive material like chlorine and nitrogenous compound.
There are metal material for corrosive environment use in the industry.
These anti-corrosion metal are said to have surface membrane, so called
oxidation membrane or no conducting membrane, and prevent from corrosion progress.
However, when the membrane has been damaged by various factor, the partial corrosion which
will deteriorate or even unfeasible to reconstruct the membrane. What is worse, equipment
that has constructed with different metal material together will have electric potential
difference which will cause contact corrosion.
You don't have to worry any of this with FRP.
Our pump's liquid contact part uses FRP. Main part like impeller and casing do not use
metal core so there is no worry about corrosion even if you have friction wear out.
As you can see in below picture, the main body consisted from only impeller, casing and
mechanical seal. It's so simple and east to maintain with only 1/5 of the weight compare
to conventional anti-corrosion metal pump.
Our standard pump has inside-mechanical seal which has almost no liquid leakage at all.
